The SAGE program is designed to enhance and accelerate students gifted in the areas of verbal, non-verbal, and quantitative abilities. Students who show strengths in these areas have an opportunity to test for potential eligibility into the SAGE curriculum. Deer Valley Unified Schools utilize the Cognitive Abilities Test and students must receive either a 97 percentile score, or a SAS (Student Age Score) of a 132 or better.
If standards are met, the student may be placed in reading, and/or math class which are parallel to the homeroom time schedule so SAGE students do not miss the every day activities in the regular classroom (to the best of the scheduling ability).
Testing Dates for 2008 will be determined by Deer Valley School District.
Testing will now take place through a district tester, not the SAGE teacher.
**Your child's teacher will notify you if they recommend testing for your child.
Fall testers may not test until the following spring.
